It steps up from the X7 with a stronger motor and a full color web browser.
The full color console also makes the iFit LIVE workout scenes and HD videos much more enjoyable to watch. You also get more of a decline than the X7 - up to 6%.
Also, Nordictrack has widened the belt for the new 2014 model and made the X9 much easier to put together with their snap assembly.

1) Burn Almost 400 Calories in 20 minutes
Want to lose weight fast? This is your machine. You can burn up to 398 calories walking at a 40% incline for 20 minutes - vs. burning 74 calories walking at a 0% incline.
That's more than 5X the calorie burning. With your body chewing through calories like this, you'll see results super-fast.
2) Built-In Web Browser
Imagine surfing the net, reading emails, catching up on the latest business news or even checking in with Facebook friends - all while working out. The web browser is built right into the console and uses the wireless internet in your home to connect you.
Plus the console is the largest that Nordictrack makes - 10" (vs 7"). It's also full-color and is touch sensitive so you can surf the Net or see your workout stats with the swipe of your finger. Very easy and convenient.
3) iFit LIVE Built-In
iFit LIVE is a feature that uses the wireless modem in your home to connect your trainer to the Internet.
From there you can download new workout programs (including ones where Jillian Michaels from 'The Biggest Loser' coaches you through the program), run trails all over the world using Googlemaps and track your fitness activity online.
Plus, the iFit LIVE comes built-in - so you don't have to buy the iFit module separately as you do with other NordicTrack machines.
4) Extra Wide, Extra Long Belt
One of the past complaints with many incline trainers was that the belts were too short to run on (they were originally designed only for high incline walking).
However, Nordic Track has fixed this by adding an extra long 60" belt to the X9 incline trainer. They've also widened the belt from 20 to 22 inches. This gives you extra room to really stretch your legs and run. It's also ideal for taller users as they won't feel like they're going to fall off the treadmill.
5) 6% Decline
In addition to a high 40% incline, the X9 also comes with 6% decline which gives you even more crosstraining options. It's also really neat because when you run different world trails using the iFit feature, the treadmill inclines and declines to match the actual trail.
6) Free Wireless Heart Rate Monitor
While you can use the hand grip sensors on the X9, many people find that the wirless monitor is more accurate (and more convenient since you don't have to continually grasp the hand sensors).
7) Snap Assembly
This is another upgrade on the 2014 model. A lot of people dread having to spend hours putting their treadmills together. Nordictrack has made it much easier with their snap assembly. Basically it takes less than half the time to put this trainer together than one of their normal treadmills - which saves you a lot of stress.
If you don't have wireless internet in your home you won't get full use out of the X9. Also, while you don't have to buy the iFit LIVE module to use this trainer - you will have to subscribe to iFit if you want to try it out (about $99 a year).
The 2014 NordicTrack X9 Incline trainer gives you everything you could ever want in a treadmill/incline trainer. It gets our vote for "Best Buy for 2014".
You can burn calories ultra-fast with a 40% incline or tone your lower body with the 6% decline. Plus with an extra long belt and strong cushioning system, it's perfect for runners.
And you can't beat the entertainment options here - from a large multi-color web browser to iFit LIVE workouts from Jillian Michaels to HD video workouts to fitness tracking, iPod dock, integrated tablet holder and more.
If you're looking for the ultimate incline trainer for under $2000 (currently) this is it.
